A Lawn Chair And A Good Book…

EOSM 3: A Lawn Chair And A Good Book…

Summer is fading slowly here,
Most leaves are still green,
Watercolor-soft grey skies dance with little clouds,
The afternoon is warm with a gentle breeze,
The first hints of Autumn color the edges of trees,
Dance near me in the parking lot,
Little leaves race in circles,
Rival the waving brown thistle-towers,
There at the edge of grass,
The smoke of my cigar spirals in slow time,
As I turn gentle pages,
Feel paper brush my fingertips,
Pumpkin-spiced strong coffee past my lips,
Birds swirl in cyclonic black clouds,
A portent of the near future,
Their song a long goodbye,
My skateboard in the closet,
Bicycle in the basement racked,
I’m in no hurry to be anywhere,
Time to just be in this gentle place,
Look back to the page I was reading,
Wander wonder at a languid pace,
As the season and the page slowly turn.
