Dear Poets,
Write! Chicago will be hosting another poetry outing on Saturday, November 16, at the Intuit: Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art,
756 N. Milwaukee, Chicago. We will meet at 11 a.m. at the entrance of
the museum, spend about one hour looking at the art, and convene inside
the museum at a place where we can write. Those who wish can join us
afterwards at the Windy City Café for lunch and socializing.
In addition, those who wish can continue on to the Woman Made Gallery, 685 N. Milwaukee, which is just in walking distance. We hope to get to that gallery by 2:30 p.m.
Established
in 1991, Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art (Intuit) is
the only nonprofit organization in the United States that is dedicated
solely to presenting self-taught and outsider art — with world class exhibitions; resources for scholars and students; a Permanent Collection with holdings of more than 1,100 works of art; the Henry Darger Room Collection; the Robert A. Roth Study Center, a non-circulating collection with a primary focus in the fields of outsider and contemporary self-taught art; and educational programming for people of all interest levels and backgrounds.
Woman
Made Gallery is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization founded in
1992. Its goal is to support women in the arts by providing
opportunities, awareness and advocacy. It specifically accomplishes this
through exhibitions which raise public awareness and recognition of
women’s cultural contributions.
Woman
Made will have a new exhibition in November. Both museums can be
accessed via public transportation, and if driving parking is suggested
on Chicago Avenue.
For those of you interested in going, please e-mail Caroline Johnson at twinkscat@aol.com to RSVP by Nov. 10. Let us also know if you would like to carpool from the western suburbs.
