Write! Chicago, September 14…

Dear Poets,

Come join us for the next Write! Chicago outing planned for Saturday, Sept. 14, at the DuSable Museum of African History. We plan to meet at 11 a.m. at the entrance, disperse to view the exhibits for 2 hours or so, then reconvene to write and possibly go out to lunch.

The DuSable Museum’s mission is to “collect, preserve and display artifacts and objects that promote understanding and inspire appreciation of the achievements, contributions, and experiences of African Americans through exhibits, programs, and activities that illustrate African American history, culture and art.” They have several temporary and permanent exhibits. Currently, they are featuring an exhibit called, “AFRICOBRA: Art and Impact,” and beginning Sept. 1, “Twelve Disciples of Nelson Mandela,” in addition to many other exhibits.

DuSable Museum is conveniently located in Washington Park at the corner of 57th and Cottage Grove. The address is 740 East 56th Place, Chicago, 60637. (MAP) They are accessible by car or public transportation. For more information, visit their website at: http://www.dusablemuseum.org/
General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students. Chicago residents get a special discount: $8 for adults, and $5 for students and seniors.

Please RSVP to Caroline Johnson at twinkscat@aol.com by Sept. 10 if you plan on going. A group of us from the western suburbs may carpool, so let me know if you want to join us.
